The question we hear most often is what is going to happen with energy bills. With a shrug of our shoulders we have to say “no idea!” If we actually knew for sure we would have people lined up around the block begging for clarity. Last I checked there was no line!
About the only thing we know is that the price is going up while supply lines are getting shakey. We have no idea how high prices will go or how shakey the supply will be and it’s safe to assume there will be both in the mix. Like anything else, you can be re-active or pro-active. Being re-active means that you turn off more lights and set the thermostat higher on hot days. This was the approach my Dad used and it just wasn’t popular at all. Being pro-active means that you insulate, change lighting, install a whole house fan, install attic vents and make your home work better. This means that you can keep the thermostat where you want it, leave lights on and still have a lower bill. Mom was a supporter of this approach.
There are some folks that jump to the conclusion that Solar is what they need. Solar is right for some and not right for others. One of the best things about Solar is that it all comes down to math. Solar either makes financial sense or it doesn’t. Some people go with Solar because they want it and that is all well and good. We do Solar and we aren’t willing to browbeat you with it. Show us your bills and we will show you what Solar will do for you in dollars and cents then you decide. You got to the point where you own a home so you can make this decision.
