While we are all still trying to get used to rain again (wet stuff… You remember) we can tell you what is already used to the rain. You won’t like what we have to say and they are most likely already in your attic. Mice, squirrels and rats. And when I say squirrel I don’t mean anything like Rocky the Squirrel either. And when I say rats and mice I mean rats and mice. Just what you think and a lot more damaging. This group loves to find an attic they can get into because it’ dry, warm and a perfect place to set up housekeeping. They have been known to live on the casing of home wiring and they love the feel on their constantly growing teeth. It gets better!!!
While they are setting up housekeeping in your warm, dry attic they are looking for a food source, a place to sleep and a place to use as a bathroom. Ugh. The reality is that the insulation in most attics today is pretty rodent friendly and once they get in they aren’t likely to leave. The cycle of life of any of these is pretty rapid and that is not a good thing. They are born, they live and they die in pretty rapid succession and that can mean dead critters in your attic. By they way, when they die they don’t smell as good as you think they might and before they die you can sometimes hear them in the ceiling walking around. The sounds of ceiling activity and the smell of death are not as pleasant as it sounds.
