When I was a kid my Mom & Dad made me do things well in advance of when they needed to be done. Things like homework, yardwork, cleaning my room and catching up on general chores all come to mind. Looking at the weather over the lest couple of days and reading the news it’s clear to me that preparation is going to matter a lot this Fall and Winter.
I am told from time to time that my phrase “dig the well before you get thirsty” is a bit of overkill and that I overuse it. I overuse it because history has shown it works. Tasks like cleaning gutters, checking drains, inspecting a roof and servicing a home heater are much better done before it gets cold and wet. Experience has also shown me that far too many people will wait until the arctic winds appear with a substance called rain and then those things move from jobs we need to do to emergencies that have to be done right now! Trying to get someone out to repair a non-working heater is as time intensive as trying to get someone out to fix an air conditioning unit on the first 100 degree day. This is ignoring how hard it is to find a competent roofer in a driving rainstorm. The time to take care of these is NOW!
In the coming weeks we are going to be talking about some of the other projects that Top Rank Home Services can help you with before the holidays arrive. Between now and then please take care of the basics. Can you imagine feeling bad knowing that the gutters are clean, the heater works and the roof won’t leak?
